Aye sorry to bother again (and i also hope im not causing a hostile mood or anything bc not my intentions just wanted a calm discussion) and idk if u read my reblog yet but also i picked up some more info since then and apparently kissing eddie was venoms idea so do with that information what you will! (I mean that in a good way not a sarcastic way btw) context really helps alot and that whole scene was actually venom trying to get some apparently not the woman, venom just used her lol

Of course it was Venom’s idea, not at all surprised lol. That’s what I’d assume anyway, since Venom taking over a body usually means it’s Venom making all/most of the decisions (until it just sort of, backs away and stays in the background chilling and observing). It would have been awesome if in this particular scene Venom just looked like a literal genderless blob (with the head looking like the standard Venom ofc).

Anyways I still have to see the movie first (tonight, I’m hoping) before further discussing about it.

“#(like can we have ONE comic book film without any implied heterosexuality)” Fucking preach. I don’t care about comics or their film renditions, but this is such a universal problem. I literally avert my eyes during het sex scenes, because I’m t i r e d. Does it have to be everywhere? I just want stories that are great on their own without the inevitable boy meets girl side dish, and I want queer characters that just happen to be queer, and it’s not an issue.

SAME.

Fun fact though. When I was at university (studying to become a bachelor of arts in media), we obviously had to take several script writing courses. During one course we had to read a guide book on the structure/narrative of a “typical Hollywood script” – and the heterosexual kiss/relationship was listed as one essential part of such a script. So nope, I don’t think we can get rid of that awful trope, probably ever. (Anyways I ended up writing a script with gay characters LOL)

At this point it’s just so boring/forced/awkward I don’t know how they can make a decent movie if they always insist on including content like that. (Some films force it so hard that you’re just sort of left there like, “wait, where did that come from, these two characters barely even talked to each other??”)

Hey i just wanna let you know spoilers i guess but the venom with tiddies is taken out of context to purposely make heterosexuals look bad, what is actually happening in the scene is prior venom got separated from eddie and took over his girlfriend so the gf as venom is kissing him. Venom takes the frame of its host so thats why it has tiddies. Other examples include how venom reacts as spidermans black suit, smaller frame, smaller venom. I promise you heterosexuals aint that dumb.

I already pointed this out in the tags but: it’s still heteronormativity and dumb as fuck. The people who made this movie still made the conscious decision of having these two characters kiss while Venom looks “feminine”. What stopped them from having Venom suck faces with Eddie when it didn’t have tits?

Because YOU KNOW heterosexuals would see it as “gay” otherwise. And gay is obviously bad. Give a genderless alien tits and boom, suddenly it’s fine.
